A radical re-working of Moliere's Misanthrope in which Schilling places the central characters into a homosexual community, creating a tension which runs from the very start of the play. The plot is structured around a moral dilemma. A strange, miserly man, a misanthrope, is waging an antiquated war on the world. A love, with its irrationality, upsets a carefully constructed inner system. The collision of two opposing views of the world, ridiculous failure, a retreat into nothing. A 350-year old play, in rhyme. This is Moliere's comedy, the Misanthrope. Not recommended to u16s
