Salty Water and Us archiveSalty Water and Us is a play about the Lascar stories of Bangladeshi immigrants who had an aspiration of returning home but never happened. Soidulla who came from Sylhet to Hooghly Port was recruited with other sailors to work on a ship bound for England. Soidulla's journey began differently from other sailors; in search of a person called Lindsay. Why was Soidulla looking for Lindsay so desperately? What made Soidulla's feelings of revenge change when he eventually found the man he was so desperately looking for? This is a story of Lascars' dreams, struggles, their contributions and journeys are part of the shared British heritage that can be celebrated. The story aims to critically analyse and relate the recent "Go back Home" campaign from a different point of view.
