The Children's Crusade archiveA play based on the mythology surrounding the two Children's Crusades of 1212. A German boy, Nicholas declares that God has commanded him to lead an army of children to Jerusalem to bring back the Cross. Thousands set off. Many die. Many desert. Some seek work and material prosperity, others turn to crime. The theme of faith, betrayal and human frailty gives the play its power.
