The Lodger archiveEast London 1888. Mr and Mrs Bunting's Mile End lodging house is miserably deserted, until a reclusive gentleman by the name of Sleuth arrives to rent a room, just as the Jack the Ripper's Whitechapel murders begin. Sleuth disappears every night into the East End proclaiming fire and brimstone to scourge society of sin. Even the suspicions of Mr Bunting are aroused. Mrs Bunting becomes obsessed by Sleuth and protects him with morbid maternal instincts.
