Written 1681 it was performed annually at the Drury Land and Covent Garden for 70 years as part of Lord Mayor's Day. Three beautiful wives, three ludicrous husbands and one overly ambitious rake are the seductive and infallibly comic ingredients of this splendidly irreverent farce.
