On the Island of Aars archiveOn a remote Scots island, Morag McMacMcMacMcMac - the sweetest flower that e'er pluck'd Haggis - has only two humans for company: a pair of hell-breathing, Calvinist ministers, rivals for her affections. Morag believes that Aars is a giant turtle, sleeping in the sea. But she may be nuts. Then a boat arrives, bringing the first visitor in twenty-three years, a sexually rapacious Dutch Health-and-Safety officer, a woman. Before you can say hoots, Love is in the air and the God-botherers are bent on murderous revenge... Comedy musical by the creators of The Translucent Frogs Of Quuup - winner of the 2004 Guardian award for Best Original Music. On The Island Of Aars premiered at Pleasance Edinburgh in 2008, where it was nominated in all five categories in the MTM musical awards - best lyrics, best music, best new production, best book, most promising new work. Performing at Pleasance Islington for four nights only before going on tour.
