Autumn,1916. A young man arrives at a remote Sussex farm seeking a secret - the forgotten music of rural England, and a glimpse of a lost Arcadia. He finds instead a quiet struggle for life and love that echoes the timeless stories of the very songs he is seeking. Flowers of the Field is a dark romance that explores the cultural and political impulses behind the movement to rediscover England's lost folk music, at a time of war and growing industrialisation.
