It is 1970s Birmingham and 18 year old reggae fanatics Alton and Satpal shoot the breeze making plans for their debut sound system night. But just days before the dance one of them is arrested. A new generation of Black Britons come of age against a backdrop of strikes, unemployment, police harassment and an explosion of the ultimate 'rebel music'. Supported by Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Contact Theatre. Dread Soundz is part of our Work In Progress series, which gives audiences the chance to see up to the minute theatre from a range of companies before they take flight into fully fledged productions.
