Now the home-grown Brighton shows, that boldly arose from the warm ashes of life after having a child, are joined by their most ambitious blossom, "Billy, the Musical". This growing set of plays, described as "An evening with the side of your dad you never knew" is written and performed by Brighton-born Jonathan Brown, (Best Male Performer Nominee Brighton Fringe 2007) and are really going from strength to strength. Written from the perspective of different dads, and all set in Brighton, this bright bouquet is both a celebration of, and a rib at, fathers and the "city" itself. In Part 3, the Musical meet ex-brickie Billy (Jenny’s toy boy and best mate to Danny) who, to find his father, visits the regression therapist we met in “Danny.” But Billy regresses further back than planned to discover he’s none other than Dr Benjamin Rush, the (singing) Father of American Psychiatry, Co-signer of the Declaration of Independence, and that Billy, just like Rush’s own son, has a one way ticket into a mental health system, which he himself had once, nay twice, helped to build!
