In his book Ring of Bright Water, Gavin Maxwell captivated the world with his depiction of the West Highlands. He opted out of conventional society to live in isolation with his animals, but he ended up battling with the elements and the wildlife, his relationships failed and he ran out of money...all leading to the eventual destruction of his "absolute paradise". This is the story of an extraordinary man.
