We Will Be Free! Tolpuddle Martyrs Story archiveWe Will Be Free! is a new drama about the Tolpuddle Martyrs, the Dorset farm labourers convicted and transported by an oppressive Government for swearing a secret oath and forming a Trade Union in 1834 to fight against a succession of wage cuts inflicted by the local landowner. This vitally important story is told using the entertaining theatrical style developed through our production of Ragged Trousered Philanthropists; through political cartoon and animation, puppetry, and the exquisite musical arrangements by revered folk singer and squeezebox player John Kirkpatrick, of the songs and rallying hymns of the Dorset labouring classes that resound down the years. Age 11+. Running time: 1hr 10mins + interval
