Tryst archiveTryst is of a cultural moment, and represents the frustrations, tragedies and anxieties of a generation. A generation more dependent on drugs and alcohol than ever before, more affected by suicide, depression and anxiety than any previous generation. TRYST's characters are holding onto each other for dear life, and are threatening to drown one another in the process. This is the generation that could start revolutions. But with no wars to fight, have turned inward and begun destroying themselves and each other. Matt and Steph are hungover. Their wedding is in a week. Things are under control. Mostly. But when their best friend Rachel arrives unannounced, she reveals a secret that threatens to unravel everything. Now they must deal with the consequences of their messy nights and bad decisions. Who do you blame when your life is derailed? And how far will you go to get it back on track? Examining crisis, bodily autonomy and the politics of choice through the lens of a complex multi-directional relationship in a pre-REPEAL Ireland, Tryst is a piercing and timely contemporary drama that explores the price of curiosity, the limits of friendship and the complications of sex.
