Frank Loman - I Remember: Frank Loman Sings Bucchino Kahr and Sondheim archiveLoman will perform songs by Stephen Sondheim, alongside those of New York songwriter John Bucchino, and by London songwriter Brett Kahr. All three composers are known for their hyper-literate lyrics and profound story-songs, and Loman is a gifted interpreter of their work. Says Loman, "Intelligent writing doesn’t come abundantly these days but these three writers represent for me what modern musical theatre should be about: strong melodies, clever lyrics and messages that will stay with the audience for a long time." Loman will treat his audience to four rarely performed numbers from the 1970’s television score of Evening Primrose ("I Remember", “ "If You Can Find Me I’m Here", "When" and "Take Me To The World"). Other Sondheim selections include "Not While I’m Around," "Send In The Clowns" and "Being Alive". John Bucchino’s songbook will be represented with "Playbill", "Grateful" and "If I Ever Say I’m Over You". Brett Kahr, a London composer (also psychiatrist!) known for his witty ditties, has written a song which Loman relishes doing: "Dangerous Cabaret". "London cabaret is very dangerous..." says Frank, with a wink. "I have always found it so. And it has always found me dangerous as well. Unintentionally Brett Kahr has written me a theme song for my understanding of how cabaret can and should be performed today. German-born Loman has performed in Dance of The Vampires in Vienna (directed by Roman Polanski), Titanic in Hamburg, and Les Miserables in the West End. With musical theatre credits in several countries and several languages, he has an overview of musicals in Europe and the UK.
