Based on an incident in Chekhov's life. Swinging from wild farce to tender regret, Henry Grange's play gives a funny, entertaining and absorbing insight into the life of Russia's most beloved playwright. A lady invites the famous writer to an intimate dinner. Her husband and children are out of town, and her faithful maid has piled the table high with delicacies. But the guest is late, and unexpected and unwelcome visitors wreak havoc on the evening.
