Details
In an arts complex in one of the rough neighbourhoods of the Tunisian capital, four actors are rehearsing one of the classics of international drama, a masterpiece of human heritage, Hamlet by the genius William Shakespeare. But why? The work is underway but the actors, in their small and closed world, are struggling to perform the play. They try to grasp the classical Arabic, the language of the translated play. Each of them wants to have a starring role. Their relationships are becoming intertwined and creating suspicion, as if their relationship with the play has become personal. Amidst all this, the actors are asking questions about Hamlet the play, and why they should work on it. What connection do they have with the issues raised by the play and with Hamlet himself? What pushes them to perform? Is there a need for their theatre?
