Frobisher's Gold (or Elizabeth the First had Black Teeth) is a comic tragedy - based on the true story of one of England's early imperialist adventures - prosecuted by the pirate-turned explorer Frobisher. As he sails to the arctic to find Elizabeth riches to rival Spain's new world gold, Elizabeth's recent humiliation in love sends her spinning into an emotional winter of her own... an epic tale of profiteering, revenge and thawing hearts with a clear but witty comment on the imperial impulses very evident in our own time.
