Details
Three siblings. A kitchen. A box of cassette tapes left by their mother. On them, titles for every chapter of her life. Together, the siblings engage in a ritual game of make-believe. As they uncover the reality behind their mother's veneer, an absurd and dystopian world emerges where kitchen appliances become people - the perfect dysfunctional family resurrected. Will they get out of the kitchen, or is it too much too late? A form-pushing new play by Nadia Cavelle, Subject Mater is a loosely autobiographical and daringly imaginative journey into the mother/child relationship and what it takes to break free.
