National Theatre's New Connections - Success archiveEvery year the National Theatre commissions ten new plays by talented and exciting writers, which are then produced by young people from all around the country. It’s boom time in the City and Tom Rakewell is determined to make his first million by the time he is 21. He has everything going for him: a great job, the looks, the charm, a whole load of friends, a case full of money, and the girl. With the champagne flowing, money growing on trees and the good times still rolling, what could possibly go wrong? Inspired by Hogarth’s The Rake’s Progress, Success is a brand new play by Nick Drake, commissioned by the National Theatre for New Connections.
