Details
The Railway Plays is a collection of eight short plays: an enticing smorgasbord of style, subject and theatrical approach, performed back-to-back in under 90-minutes. The absurd jostles with the political for centre stage, the comical with the bleak and the surreal, each play a fresh intervention on narrative and theatrical presentation. Following in the footsteps of practitioners such as Beckett, Ionesco, Brecht and Pinter, these highly original, much-praised works seize the conventions of the avant-garde and re-boot them, compellingly, for a 21st century audience. Nicholas Joseph is a playwright/director and senior lecturer at UoW. Previous plays have been performed in London, Philadelphia, Exeter, Winchester and Edinburgh, and include the award of a Fringe First at the Edinburgh International Festival.
