Details
In the centenary year of his death, Opera North celebrate the life of one of the greatest opera composers, Giuseppe Verdi. His long creative career, which yielded such major works at Il trovatore, Otello and Aida, allowed Verdi to perfect his characteristic touches: the lyrical beauty of his vocal melodies; the tiniest figurations of orchestral writing with which he captures a great depth of dramatic meaning; his ability to conjure up whole new worlds through his musical language, from Ancient Egypt to Windsor, Paris and Italy. It is these qualities, and the diversity of his works, from the tragedy of La traviata to the comic mastery of Falstaff that make him a favourite with performers and audiences alike. In this special concert performance, Opera North take a retrospective look at the work of this great figure. Sponsored by Manchester Airport.
