Details
After Gilgamesh compares ideas of war, leadership and the consequences for citizens in modern day and historic times. The story includes the point of view of the incidental characters, the faces in the crowd, who bear witness to the spectacle of superpowers (and deities) behaving badly. A modern soldier lies wounded and unconscious in a field hospital. Flitting between his life and visions of the ancient world, he sees the legendary deeds of the god king and the trials placed upon him by the immortals who ruled.
