Bartleby - A Story of Wall Street archiveAdapted from the novel by Herman Melville, and set in the offices of a legal practice in 1850 s Wall Street, Bartleby is a black comedy about a legal copying clerk who materialises from nowhere seeking employment. At first a model worker, Bartleby begins to exhibit strange behaviour, disrupting the routine of an office populated by eccentric characters, sparking a series of absurd events and leaving his boss in a dilemma of cosmic proportions. By turns haunting, tragic and funny, but always compelling, the award-winning Bartleby is an evocative piece of theatre that lives on in the mind. Bartleby - A Story of Wall Street website.
