Choreographer and performer Fran Barbe has studied Japanese Butoh since 1992. She performs Fine Bone China, her latest work which fuses Butoh with contemporary dance theatre. She has her own company Fran Barbe Dance, is a teacher of Butoh and is also a lecturer at the University of Kent. Oriental dance quartet Sinman Dance Company present Fire of Hope combining contemporary dance with an oriental twist to depict the moods and passion of Miao people from Yunnan in China. British Bharatanatyam and contemporary dancer Seeta Patel performs a triptych of solos specially created for her by Liz Lea, Stella Subbiah and C V Chandrasekhar. Seeta is currently studying Bharatanatyam with Mavin Khoo and was a founding member of Mavin Khoo Dance. Award winning Zimbabwean choreographer Bawren Tavaziva presents a sneak preview of his newest company creation Mandela in honour of the great South African leader.
