British genome scientist David Ree is invited to a conference in Paris and decides to take his ailing father with him, prior to the predicted onset of Huntingdon's Chorea. When his father goes missing, David's search for him raises the ghosts of the dead, the secrets of inheritance and the truth about a bizarre family curse involving French intellectuals in Paris.
