The Night the Ship Went Down archiveThe Night The Ship Went Down is a moving, entertaining, informative and respectful production by three local songwriters and performers, Jeff Henry, Brian Hooper and Barry Wake, in song, music and spoken word. The show tells of the optimism surrounding the Titanic's maiden voyage, the distress in the town after the sinking, and the plight of those who survived, mainly from the perspective of the crew and in particular Fred Fleet, the look-out who first sighted the iceberg. This is a stripped-down remake of a show performed to a sell-out audience at Turner Sims and other venues to mark the centenary of the Titanic's voyage, in 2012. That show drew standing ovations by audiences around the area, and the CD of the songs has been featured on radio shows around the world.
