Details
Everybody Dance Now is a Dancing for the Games project inspired by London 2012 and part of the Cultural Olympiad in the West Midlands. Between 29th July to 6th August young people from across the City of Wolverhampton and from six European countries are staging an exciting performance programme celebrating Wolverhampton’s rich history of Social Dancing. You may have danced in Ballrooms in the 1940’s or 1950’s or became a cult follower of Northern Soul in the 1970’s?. Or maybe you migrated to Wolverhampton from India, The Caribbean, Eastern Europe or Ireland bringing to the City a rich culture of traditional dance? Everybody Dance Now is a joyous festival of Dance, Theatre and Film with a complimentary exhibition - And They Went Dancing celebrating the memories of Wulfrunians; and allowing young people the chance to create their own history by marking the 2012 celebrations in an unforgettable way. The festival events will be here at the Arena, at the Newhampton Arts Centre, the Wulfun Hall, the Art Gallery and in other venues such as the stunning Low Level Railway station.
