Rooted in the past of a dystopian future - that means a minimalist set littered with industrial remnants and a broken toilet - Scotland's greatest heroes, Wallace, Bruce and Burns are tempted by their inner demons to confront their outer Hebrides in this uncompromising study of destiny as seen through the eyes of the destined. Lust, power, treachery, betrayal.. sorry, have I just given away the ending? This epic production exposes the true price of freedom - it's not just something you can pick up in Lidl's -while extolling the value of shouting your lines and over-acting as it treads the fine line between dark, visceral theatre and disappearing up one's own arse. The original manuscript for 'MacBraveheart' was discovered in a shoe box on top of an old wardrobe in Blind Harry's but an' ben and was thought by many to be the first draft of his epic poem 'The Wallace'. Experts couldn't reach a conclusion so while they were deliberating, they placed the manuscript in another shoe box which they then put on top of a wardrobe situated in Anne Hathaway's cottage. Years later, when Ms Hathaway was having new Ikea units installed, the script was re-discovered and many believed it to be the first draft of Shakespeare's 'Scottish play'.
