Connected archiveTwo people linked by an event in their past. They meet at a funeral of a man; their unique connection to this man unrealised by either of them. As they allow each other to explore the issues of their pasts and how their lives have been affected by their experiences they question what hold this man had over them. When these two characters meet, theirs is an unconventional relationship brought about from an understanding of each other. Sparks fly, laughter draws them in and the depth of human emotion plays out. These are two survivors but how will their time together affect them? The subject matter of this piece has developed over some twelve months; stemming from a conversation with survivors of sexual abuse and how it has affected their lives in different ways. The Other Day and Connected have been chosen to launch Abandon Theatre's New Writing Programme - both are 45 minutes long but will be performed interchangeably for an hour an a half. They deal with unconventional relationships and the journeys of their characters. They both tackle relationships and how these might change as a result of the impact of key life-changing occurrences, such as suicide, abuse and love. Connected and The Other Day are supported by CHILDLINE - a partnership which will raise awareness of the production and the issues prevalent. The performance on 9 September is a Gala night the proceeds of which will go to CHILDLINE, the performance time is 8:30pm. Tickets are 20.00 for this special performance available from the Box Office at The White Bear.
