Headstrong - National Theatre Shell Connections Festival 2004 archiveRose Phillips works as a servant for the Lowe family. Captain Lowe is a partner in the new opium clipper trade, buying opium in India and shipping in China. On this voyage to India it is hoped the marriage of his daughter Lila Mae to Mr Logan would cement a business dynasty. Lila Mae however, falls in love with another and forces Rose to help her dupe her father and soon both girls become entwined on a journey into the unknown. Contains some strong language.
