The Forsythe Programme - T0801513917

A world premiere and two classics from the master choreographer, William Forsythe. In 2022, Playlist (EP) brought the house down. Combining ballet classicism and athleticism with the music of Barry White, Natalie Cole and more, it left audiences "tipsy with delight" (Financial Times). It's back in 2025 to bring pure happiness into our lives! Our dancers will also perform New Suite, an arrangement of eight early Forsythe pas de deux. Set to Händel, Berio and Bach, these memorable vignettes showcase his signature style - rooted in the classical tradition yet layered with unconventional juxtapositions of ballet's kinetic logic. Completing this special programme will be your chance to experience a World Premiere, where Forsythe takes inspiration from the 2nd movement of Prokofiev's piano concerto number 3 in C major Opus 26; "Tema con Variazioni"

Carmen - T193809065

With its fiery drama and iconic music, Carmen never ceases to thrill. In this reimagined version, choreographer Johan Inger takes audiences deep into the passions and dark undercurrents of the original story - imbuing the enduring tale with new resonance. Sensual and spirited, Carmen turns every head - including Don Jose's. But when she refuses to fall under his control, he plunges into an abyss of jealousy and rage, with tragic consequences. Inger's choreography combines contemporary and classical movement to powerful effect. Nine large movable mirrors frame the action – transporting us from a town square through to the troubled mind of Don Jose. Menace and foreboding loom over the stage, thanks to additional music by Marc Alvarez which complements Bizet and Shchedrin's classic score, performed live by ENB Philharmonic.Choreographer Johan Inger.
