Reg is a grumpy octogenarian. He's rude to his carer and he drives his long-suffering grandson potty. But it's only when he appears on a TV quiz show that we realise what has made him so fiercely independent, and Reg comes to terms with the advancing years. The Generation Gap is a heart-warming and totally non-patronising study of old-age and loneliness, both touching and comical, made more so because Reg is a near life-size hand puppet, manipulated by the two performers, who play all the other characters.
