Shake the Dust is a national celebration of the power of poetry. As Olympic and Paralympic athletes train, young people from across the country will work with leading spoken word artists to share their stories and find their voices through slam poetry. Get ready for summer 2012 when they'll take the stage and shake the dust. This is the celebratory culmination of a programme of poetry workshops. Five teams of young poets come together to battle it out for the honour of representing the South East against eight other regional teams in the Shake the Dust National Final at The Southbank Centre, London, in July.

Now those young poets are ready to Shake the Dust. Join the 5 London teams as they showcase their work and compete for a place at the National Shake The Dust Final, held in London 5 - 8 July. Hosted by G.R.E.Ed.S, with guest performances from Deanna Roger (Chill Pill) and Toby de Angeli (Roundhouse Collective). Judged by Peter Kahn (poet, author and teacher, founding member of Malika's Kitchen, Chicago), Sifundo Msebele (poet and member of London Teenage Poetry SLAM) and Khadijah Ibrahiim (poet, founder and Artistic Director of Leeds Young Authors: Voices of a New Generation.)
