1925 tragi-comedy set in a post-revolutionary Russia of vice, opium dens and corruption. On the fifthe floor of a once exclusive Moscow apartment building, Madame Zoyka plans to flee Russia and join the aristocratic exiles in Paris. First, visas must be bought, officials must be bribed, in short, money must be made by any means necessary! With the aid of former Counts, bogus Aristocrats, Chinese Bandits and middle class Mistresses, all desperate to make it to the west, Zoyka transofrms her apartment into a dress-makers shop by day and brothel by night - where, for the right price - one can buy anything, including the sexual favours of the ladies of the former ruling class.
