QUARTET is based on Choderlos de Laclos1s novel 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses' ('Dangerous Liaisons'), in which the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont hatch their amorous, often sadistic fantasies and indulge themselves in scheming the seduction of an innocent virgin.
