Tonight We Fly archivePremiered at the Edinburgh Festival this vibrant, fast-paced production is based on the extraordinary life of artist Marc Chagall. Marc Chagall was born dead in a burning village. Placed at the foot of his mother's bed he was taken to safety. He then made a momentous decision. He decided to live! Years later he made another momentous decision, to be a painter and so became one of the most famous artists of the 20th century, living a life as extraordinary and vivid as his work. Tonight We Fly presents Marc Chagall in all his colourful glory. Centred around Chagall himself, (the single speaking character in the play), the production uses an exciting mix of masks, puppets and live Klezmer music to quite literally bring the man and his pictures to life. Fuelled by a passion and love for his homeland, his culture, his wife Bella, and his art, Chagall's pictures became masterpieces of their time, rich in imagery and imagination and with a unique and distinctive style of their own.
