Set in England in the 1920s, an impoverished British woman, who gives up her fancy and powerful lifestyle for her journalist boyfriend, befriends a terminally ill American heiress hoping she and her boyfriend will come into access with wealth and power again. Kate Croy and Merton Denver are engaged in a passionate clandestine live affair.
