The Island archiveFive sisters live a life of idyllic tranquillity on a magical island uninhabited by men, until two brothers are washed up on their shore and History returns to haunt them. This cheeky tropical comedy pokes fun at sexual relationships, and the roles we attribute to one another, by taking them out of any societal context. The surreality of these roles is reflected by the setting in which this Battle (or rather, Stalemate) of the Sexes is played out. The impossibility of the location precludes any attempt at a 'message', unless that message is that we all must learn to laugh at ourselves.
