The Importance of Being Martha archiveAfter a series of traumatic events, Martha locks herself away, fearing the outside. To help herself cope, she has created her own magical kingdom within her bedroom. However, Martha does not live alone. Just as quickly as Martha's Kingdom is built up in front of us, a knock on her bedroom door brings us crashing back to reality. Intertwined with our exploration of the Kingdom, we explore Martha's relationship with her sister and how this changes as Suzie convinces her to join an online support group. We follow Martha's personal journey as she starts painting, writing poetry and begins to let go of her fantasies in hopes of finding herself and the magic in her reality. But will there be anything that encourages Martha to take the plunge and go outside? Can she pull herself away from the safety of her imagination?
