Strictly Dandia archiveStrictly Dandia is set during Navratri, the nine nights that precede Diwali in the Hindu calendar when the various castes, the Patels, Lohanas and Shah's compete for the title of Diwali King and Queen. Traditionally seen as the mating season, the stage is set for encounters between the sexes when young men and women take to the dance floor, brandishing dandia sticks and mobile phones. Caste rivalries are exposed in a series of smart moves and the arrival of a pair of outsiders challenges the accepted order of the Navratri celebrations. Age 10+
