Question freedom, identity and history in SINK, a play based on the true story of Chinese writer Lao She. An author of great esteem who was given the title of People's Artist early in his career, he was later deemed a public enemy during the Cultural Revolution. Lao She famously taught at London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in the early 20th century, seeing cross-cultural conversations that would become evident in his future work. In this performance, we watch as the characters grapple with their sense of place and role in contemporary society, and struggle to make sense of the changes happening around them.
