Power Luncheon archiveIn World War II, Churchill and George VI met weekly for private luncheons, to discuss affairs of state. Power Luncheons imagines - with some licence - three of their meetings, in 1940, 1943 and D-Day 1944. The play explores how interpersonal politics might leak onto the stage of world politics and how individuals playing great historical roles might nonetheless be guided by the emotional needs of the child who has never quite left the nursery.
