Poison archiveWan Fang is one of China's most prominent playwrights. 'Poison' was first performed in Beijing in 2006. It takes the lid off the twenty-first century Chinese family, showing the tensions lurking beneath the surface. Not one of the characters is black or white: all have their problems and weaknesses, and they are certainly not the stereotypical family of the harmonious society! Wan Fang addresses disability, alcoholism, greed and dishonesty in this slightly absurd, slightly surreal drama.
