Peggy for You archivePeggy Ramsay, who died in 1991, was Britain's most celebrated agent for more than thirty years and a renowned character - intimidating, contradictory, irritating and inspiring. Her dynasty of playwright clients included Joe Orton, Caryl Churchill, Christopher Hampton, David Hare, Stephen Poliakoff and Alan Plater himself. The Times: 11Jan01: Star RatingStar RatingStar Rating
Robin Lefevre s production, transferred from the Hampstead Theatre, is certainly worth seeing for the sight and sound of Lipman gawkily moving around her cluttered office, having difficulty with her shoes, fussing among her papers, absently hitching her skirt up at the waist in a manner suggesting she has lost weight but cannot spare the time to buy new outfits.
