Orestes 2.0 archiveCharles L. Mee, America's most controversial political playwright, takes Euripides' classical Greek play and electrifies it with fragments of the modern world - excerpts from beauty magazines, testimonials from soldiers tortured in the war, teen magazine horoscopes, radio travel programmes, sex addict confessions, and even a bit of critical analysis on the soaps. The result: Electra and Orestes drowning in a pool of blood, surrounded by a world of people unequipped to hear, let alone aid, their struggle for justice. And just where is Apollo these days? It's physical; it's sexual; it's quirky; it's trashy; it's raw; It's now.
