A unique and powerful theatrical experience based on the story of a Ugandan child soldier, combining verbatim theatre with documentary footage. Uganda, 1996: Bua Lydia is in her dormitory at school when she hears a knock at the door. She knows immediately that her childhood is coming to an end, and that she is to be taken by the rebels to the bush to be a child soldier. She is 14 years old. London, 2008: Director Libby Penn receives the Deutsche Bank Pyramid Award and sets off for Uganda to make a documentary on child soldiers. On her last night, in Kampala, she meets Bua Lydia, who, at 27, is just completing her GCSEs. As the sun sets, Bua Lydia begins her story.
