Details
Mindy is a glamorous 50-something American; a faded and jaded former dancer who longs to get home. Terrorised by the teenage gangs who prowl the streets outside her bleak council flat, Mindy's only escapes are her glittering dresses, her memories of home and The Juke ? the 1950s jukebox whose whirling records she dances to whilst waiting for a longed for call from Reno. Into her life comes schoolboy Timmy who becomes a frequent visitor to Mindy's flat, where he too develops a love for The Juke, its music and dancing. This unlikely pair might not have much, but they now have each other - and dreams of a better life. But the safe haven they've created for each other is about to be destroyed by a knock at the door. Mindy is a touching play which explores how a little love and friendship can transform lives, if only for a short time.
