Details
One by one, three strangers are locked inside a room. One by one, their stories are told and their guilt revealed. As Garcin, Inez and Estelle fall into a desperate, triangular relationship, they realise that they can find no comfort in each other, only torture. As we witness the unsettling climax, we realise that they are trapped in an eternity of mutual despair. For this is the ultimate voyeurism, we are peering into the depths of hell itself. Sartre's play destroys some of our most precious ideals: love, trust and human affection. Garcin is left to conclude that 'Hell is other people'. You must make up your own mind.
