Hearts of Darkness archiveFor one dark and unholy night only, Substance & Shadow Theatre and Dream Catcher Theatre invite you to join them on a terrifying journey into the Hearts of Darkness. Come and experience a unique and chilling Halloween collaboration between two local theatre companies. Christie in Love - Following acclaimed sell out shows across Exeter during 2014, Substance & Shadow Theatre return with their autumn production: Howard Brenton's Christie in Love - a dark and disturbing journey into the mind of Britain's most notorious single serial killer of the 20th century. John Reginald Halliday Christie strangled eight women, including his wife and a baby. He went on to entrap an innocent man, who was mistakenly hung as a result of Christie's callous handiwork. Substance & Shadow Theatre invite you to experience the chilling and brutal exploration of a murderous mind at extremely close range. Ma Cherie A Mort - Fresh from the Edinburgh Festival, Dreamcatcher Theatre present Ma Cherie A Mort a twisted tale that will titillate and terrorise. Penny and Max are blissfully happy, having just celebrated five years of being together. The only thing missing from their life is a child, and they're sure that it's only a matter of time and perseverance before they have that, too. What they don't expect, is a visit from Penny's ex-partner, Julian, who wants to know just one thing - why did Penny leave him?
