Flamingos archiveA tram ride down the seafront of provincial gay life....Mark and Phil have been together ten years - their Lycra anniversary. Every few months they spend a weekend away in Blackpool at their favourite haunt, the Cliffdean hotel, run by their friend Cliff (Dean sadly being no more). With them they take their friend, Gavin, for what has become something of a routine: Saturday going round the shops, a sojourn round the white knuckle rides of the Pleasure Beach before finishing the day off at Flamingos, Blackpool's premier gay Nite Spot (four floors, three bars and the biggest dark room in the North West). Here Gavin usually goes wild, Phil usually goes home and Mark usually ends up in the dark room. But then one weekend the cosy routine is threatened when they meet Richard - happily settled with fella and barn conversion, yet choosing to stay alone at the gay B&B. Flamingos is a charming, funny and revealing comedy, surveying with an ironic eye the choices faced in modern relationships.
