Beasts of Holm archive"My father and boyfriend drowned on the same day, 20 yards away from me. There was nothing I could do to help". Based on a true event, Beasts of Holm is set on the Isle of Lewis, 1918, New Year's Eve. Triumphant survivors of WW1 sail home in high spirits. Hogmanay would be one to remember. HMY 'Iolaire' struck rocks and 205 men drowned. How does a small island survive the devastating loss of two generations? This emotionally-charged play follows a young woman coming to terms with her grief and is interwoven with haunting Gaelic song.
